What are graphite electrodes used for?

80% of the total sales of graphite electrodes are used as conductive materials in electric arc furnace steelmaking. Next, the Dan carbon graphite electrodes will introduce what the graphite electrodes are used for? Uses and properties of graphite electrodes.

1. What is the graphite electrode used for?

Graphite electrode is a conductive electrode used in the electric furnace in the process of steelmaking in a medium-sized electric arc furnace. After passing electricity between the electrode and the charge or between the electrode and the electrode, an arc is generated to heat and smelt the scrap steel, similar to the lightning effect. The main raw materials for the production of graphite electrodes are petroleum coke and needle coke. Coal tar pitch is made as a binder through calcination, kneading, pressing, roasting, impregnation, graphitization and machining. The graphite electrode is divided into a body and a joint, and the joint production process requires three immersion and four bakes. Because the graphite electrode is used to connect each end to the end, and the joint just plays the role of connection, the quality of the joint is higher. Graphite electrodes have low resistivity and can withstand high temperatures in electric arc furnaces, because the melting point of graphite is around 3900 °C, the melting point of scrap steel is 1700 °C, and the temperature in the electric arc furnace is above 3000 °C, so the use of graphite electrodes just meets the requirements. Graphite electrodes are mainly used for steelmaking, but also for smelting yellow phosphorus, industrial silicon, abrasives, etc.

Graphite electrodes are divided into ordinary power, high power and ultra-high power graphite electrodes according to the power used. It is used in accordance with the principle of electric arc furnaces with the same power matching the same power.

Second, the use and performance of graphite electrodes

1. Graphite electrodes are mainly used in electric arc furnace steelmaking

Graphite electrodes for electric furnace steelmaking account for 80% of the total graphite electrodes. It smelts the charge by high-temperature heating generated by the arc between the electrode tip and the charge.

2. For submerged thermal electric furnace

Ore heating furnaces are mainly used to produce ferroalloys, matte, calcium carbide, industrial silicon and yellow phosphorus. The end of the electrode is buried in the charge, and an arc is formed in the charge after electrification, and the heat energy generated from the resistance of the charge is used to heat the charge. Graphite electrodes are required for submerged arc furnaces requiring high current density, which consumes about 100kg of graphite electrodes per 1t of silicon produced, and about 40kg of graphite electrodes per 1t of yellow phosphorus produced.

3. For resistance furnace

Resistance furnaces are graphitization furnaces for the production of graphite products, furnaces for melting glass, and electric furnaces for the production of silicon carbide. The material in the furnace is both a heating resistor and a heating object. Graphite electrodes are usually inserted into the furnace head wall at the end of a resistance furnace for discontinuous consumption.

4. For processing special-shaped graphite products

Graphite electrode blanks can also be used to process various shaped graphite products such as crucibles, molds, utensils, hot die casting molds and vacuum furnace heating elements.

It is worth noting that graphite products after graphitization are used in more and more fields, because graphite products have good strength, conductivity, electrical properties, lubricity, high temperature properties, chemical resistance, heat resistance, high temperature resistance. Thermal exfoliation, electrochemical performance and other characteristics have great potential for development in the fields of physics, materials science, electronic information, computer, aerospace and other fields.

The benefits of using trekking poles

Many walkers swear by them, while others swear they are annoying. Walking sticks seem to divide the walking community, but today more and more people are picking up their canes and enjoying the benefits. Studies show that there are many recommendations for using trekking (or hiking) poles or crutches if you plan to go on a walking vacation, especially if your daily walks are long or hilly, or both.

Why use trekking poles?

Using crampons has been shown to reduce the cumulative stress on your feet, legs, knees and back by sharing the load more evenly throughout your body. This is especially true when carrying a heavy backpack.
Hiking poles can also.
Protect your knees, especially when walking on steep hills.
Improve your strength and endurance when walking uphill.
Help maintain balance on uneven trails.
Improve posture, making walkers more upright while walking, which in turn helps with breathing.
Increases speed, especially on downhills.
Provides additional stability.
Reduces fatigue and improves endurance.
Burns more calories by providing an upper body workout and leg workout.
Strengthens the muscles that support the spine.
Tones the muscles in the arms, shoulders and neck.

Get the right pole length

Most cane manufacturers provide guidelines for the correct length for your height. Some walkers say to adjust the poles to the terrain. Thus, descending poles are set longer and ascending poles are set shorter. Some poles have long handles, so walkers can move the handles up and down depending on the terrain. As a general rule, the length of the pole should allow your hand to gently hold the handle while your arm is at a right angle to the ground. This means that your forearm is parallel to the ground and bent at the elbow.

Why walking pole wrist straps?

The shoulder strap is a useful addition to the pole, allowing you to walk with a looser grip and more ease. To take full advantage of the straps, place your hand up through the straps, forming a large O-shape with your thumb and forefinger. Then slide your hand down along the handle of the bar. This means that when you apply downward pressure to propel yourself forward, it comes not from your firm grip on the handle of the pole, but from the tension applied between your wrist and the straps. Thus, as you stride along the poles, the movement of your wrists, arms and entire body becomes extended.

What to look for when climbing

The price range for poles will suit all budgets. You can purchase a pair of poles for as low as $10 or over $100. But the most important aspects are comfort (especially the handle) and durability.

Travel with your cane

If you plan to travel abroad or need to use public transportation to go for a walk, make sure you can shorten or fold the poles when you travel. Poles are easier to carry if you can pack them in your travel bag or attach them in a shortened form to the outside of your canvas backpack.

How to Prevent Squirrels from Chewing Food Through String Lights

When it comes to outdoor decorative lighting, nothing is more popular than outdoor waterproof string light. If you have an outdoor lighting display, you may have realized the worst enemy of string lights: rodents. Main culprit? Squirrel. Some people may think that these animals are just furry little cuties, but many people think that they are the real wire-chomping scourge. Why do rodents declare war on lighting? What can you do to deal with this threat?

Why does the squirrel bite the wire?

Squirrel's food is mainly hard seeds, nuts, and fruits that wear out teeth. To combat this situation, their teeth are constantly growing. Therefore, they must chew things to prevent their teeth from growing too long. Most squirrels chew on things like branches and twigs. However, the urban squirrel found the electrical wire wires also work just as well and usually have a delicious soy-based plastic cover.

Outdoor Waterproof String Light

How can we stop them?

Fortunately, there are many options to help protect your string light from these critters, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Some people immediately think of using pesticides or other methods to "permanently" eliminate these animals, but this is really the last resort. In addition, it is worth noting that even if the current colony of squirrels is removed in this way, another squirrel is likely to move in later. Squirrels are very territorial therefore, the best way to deal with squirrels is to prevent them from getting close to wires without driving them away. Once you train your local colony to keep them away from your wires, they will start working for you, keeping any new squirrels out of your yard.

The high quality custom string lights from Guochong include:

Low voltage waterproof string light

The first thing to try is to apply a ready-made squirrel repellent, pepper spray, peppermint mouthwash, or citrus solution to the string or string light (some people think that predator's urine is very effective, but this is not for everyone ). The smell and taste of these things act as a deterrent, but they need to be reapplied regularly and after a day of rain. Owl bait is a good choice because almost all rodents are afraid of owls. These realistic baits should be placed near the wires or string lights you want to protect. Remember that for larger yards, more than one may be needed and should be moved from time to time so that the squirrels don’t become desensitized when the owl never moves.

5 Things to Consider When Choosing a Diving Mask

Before you buy your first dive mask, think about what kind of diving you will be doing and what is most important to you as a diver. There are many different mask styles to choose from, each with unique benefits. Knowing your priorities before you shop will make it easier for you to narrow down the wealth of choices. Before you head to the store, here are some of the most important things to consider.

1. Your budget

Mouthpieces don't need to be expensive. They usually cost around $50, with some full-face mask dive masks used by commercial divers costing upwards of $1000.

Don't assume that a more expensive mask is better - it's not! The most important thing to consider is the fit of the mask, which we will discuss next.

5 Things to Consider When Choosing a Diving Mask

2. Getting the perfect mask fit

You want your dive mask to fit perfectly so that it will only let a small amount of water into your face and you will feel comfortable throughout the dive. The better your mask fits, the less mask cleaning you'll have to do - which means you can focus on enjoying the marine life around you.

Important: If the seal on your face is broken, water can get into your mask - usually because of hair or smiles caught in the mask skirt!

You can find important tips for ensuring you wear a good mask later in this article.

3. Nose Pockets Matter

I doubt you've spent much time thinking about the mask nose pocket, but this seemingly unimportant part of the mask does matter. A flexible nose pocket makes it easier to pinch your nose and balance your ears while driving.

The correct shape of the nose pocket also prevents water from getting into your subnasal mask and ensures that once your regulator is in your mouth, it won't be painfully pushed up your nose. Make sure you try a variety of masks to find the right nose pocket for you.

4. Choose your mask color carefully

These days there are a wide variety of mask colors to choose from.

Each color has different advantages for divers.

Clear masks allow more light in, which can help prevent claustrophobia.

Black masks reduce glare and distractions, which can be helpful when focusing on underwater photography. They look cleaner than white or clear masks.

White and colored masks are easy to distinguish from other people's dive gear and perform well in underwater photos.

5. One, two, or more lens masks

Diving masks are available with one, two, or more lenses, as well as framed and frameless masks.

Single-lens masks have a wide, uninterrupted field of view and maintain binocular vision to aid depth perception.

Two-lens masks typically have tear-shaped lenses with a wide lateral and downward field of view to provide perfect dive table visibility.

Multi-lens masks have additional lenses on either side of the mask to provide ample light entry and an optimal field of view. They are perfect for anxious divers.

Important: If you are looking for a wide field of view and easy balance, choose a single lens mask for a wide field of view. When traveling, choose a frameless mask. They are small, easy to clean, and often fold flat for packing.

What is a power divider

A power divider is a device that divides the energy of an input signal into two or multiple outputs of equal or unequal energy, and can also combine the energy of multiple signals into one output in reverse, which can also be called a combination. router.

A certain degree of isolation should be guaranteed between the output ports of a power divider. Power divider is also called overcurrent divider. It is divided into active and passive. It can evenly distribute one signal into several outputs. Generally, each branch has a few dB attenuation. The signal frequency is different, and the attenuation of the divider is also different. Different, in order to compensate for the attenuation, a passive power divider is made after adding an amplifier.

The technical indicators of the power divider include frequency range, withstand power, distribution loss from main circuit to branch, insertion loss between input and output, isolation between branch ports, voltage standing wave ratio of each port, etc.

1. Frequency range. This is the working premise of various RF/microwave circuits, and the design structure of the power divider is closely related to the operating frequency. The operating frequency of the distributor must first be clarified before the following design can be carried out

2. Withstand power. In high-power dividers/combiners, the maximum power that circuit elements can withstand is the core indicator, which determines what form of transmission line can be used to achieve the design task. Generally, the order of transmission line power from small to large is microstrip line, stripline, coaxial line, air stripline, and air coaxial line. Which line to use should be selected according to the design task.

3. Distribution loss. The distribution loss from the main circuit to the branch circuit is substantially related to the power distribution ratio of the power divider. For example, the distribution loss of the two-half power divider is 3dB, and the distribution loss of the four-half power divider is 6dB.

4. Insertion loss. The insertion loss between the input and output is due to factors such as the imperfect medium or conductor of the transmission line (such as a microstrip line), and the loss caused by the standing wave ratio at the input end is considered.

5. Isolation. The isolation between branch ports is another important indicator of the power divider. If the input power from each branch port can only be output from the main circuit port, and should not be output from other branches, this requires sufficient isolation between the branches.

6. Standing wave ratio. The smaller the VSWR of each port, the better.

Belleville Disc Spring vs. Coil Spring

Practically everyone needs mechanical tools to help ease the burden of manual lifting or shifting. We may not be aware how as small as a spring inside a wristwatch can fulfill its exact function, but this seemingly small part has a big contribution to the overall operation of the system where it belongs.

Washers, for instance, come in different designs and sizes, each with a designed purpose. Novices might not be able to tell the difference between the different kinds of washers, let along understand which one to use. This guide aims to help you determine which kind of Hegong spring you should use: coil spring or Belleville spring.

Basic principles of a spring

Coil springs and Belleville springs follow the same working principle as follows:

The force is removed to release energy and return the spring back to its original position such as springs found on mattresses.

When the spring is compressed, it produces potential energy such as those found on toasters.

The force generated in the application is directly applied to the spring such as those that are used in a locking system.

Coil Springs

A coil spring – also known as helical spring – is made of metal and can create energy when the coils are pushed together. It is made of an elastic material in a helix shape, which allows it to return to original form once the load has been lifted. This is commonly used in mattresses, toys, and shock absorber systems.

The following types of coil springs exist in the market:

Torsion springs: These are designed to resist twisting actions often associated with clothes pegs.

Volute springs: They are used for heavy load compression. The best example is the one found in M4 Sherman battle tanks.

Compression coil spring: This type of spring is designed to resist compression. An example for this type of spring is found on car compression systems.

Tension springs: These are designed to resist stretching.

Belleville Springs

Belleville disc springs function similarly as other springs but may only differ in terms of physical attributes. This kind of spring is flat and looks almost the same as a washer compared to the more traditional springs that we know of.

However, this is referred to as conical springs because when its center is raised or lifted, it creates a cone-shaped appearance. The shape created gives it the ability to support and carry heavy load.

To avoid the risk of having corroded springs, Belleville springs are coated. Since they are relied on to sustain great loads, they provide support in construction equipment or electrical transformers.

The Difference

Hegong Belleville springs and coil springs may have the same function, but the basic difference is their load versus deflection characteristics. Belleville was designed to withstand very high loads with a small amount of deflection. Traditional coil springs can only accommodate lighter loads and much higher deflection.

The huge difference is in the application of these two types of springs because traditional coil springs may be used only for something as light as providing the clicking action of a mechanical pen. In contrast, wholesale Belleville springs are often used to give support to heavy loads such as metal machinery.
